12 Weeks

Dear Lauren,
You are now 12 weeks old. Not quite 3 months yet, but you are growing and developing so well. We just love you so very much and are really a good little baby.
  • You are still a good little eater these days. You can eat 7 or 8oz but it is not just limited to night time anymore. You still only eat 4oz at your early morning feeding. You like to eat every 2 hours from noon until 10pm.
  • You can sort of stand up with lots of help. You have strong little legs.
  • You have much better head control. It is still not good enough to sleep on your tummy, which you prefer, but a few times, while I was watching you to see how it went, you tried to turn your head and got stuck face planted and sucked air and scared your little self. When you are awake, this is not a problem.
  • We upgraded you to a Size 2 diaper because of blow outs and it is a lot better, but looks so big on you. I was sad to move you up.
  • Your 3 month clothes fit you perfectly. I bought you some winter jammies in 3-6 month and there are still a little too big.
  • You love bath time, but love it even more when I take you in the shower with me and let the water hit your back. You relax and are so happy.
  • Although your sleep schedule is still very, well, unscheduled, you do sleep 5-6 hours for your first night stretch, eat 40z and go back to sleep another 3-4 hours. This makes mommy very happy. Typically you fall asleep at either 11pm or 1am and will sleep til 6am or 8am and then wake up some time between 10:30am and noon. Sometimes 1pm.
  • Mommy still rocks you to sleep. This may have to stop soon because you scream bloody murder before you fall asleep almost every single time. You often wake up and cry more when I go to put you down.
  • You break a full swaddle 95% of the time, so you get swaddled from the chest down. Your hands and arms still fly around and scare you in your sleep.
  • You are so chatty. The best chat sessions are when you are laying on your back and someone is leaning over you and asking you questions. You talk the most late at night and early in the morning.
  • I swear you know what "Hi" means because you say it all the time and it is usually when you first make eye contact with someone. It is followed by lots of big smiles.
  • You have added "Rawrrr" in a sort of barky-seal like way to your list of "words".
  • You can grab a hold of your toys on your activity mat.
  • We can already see that you have a little temper developing. You get mad if you are not fed fast enough and you get mad every time you have to put your hands and arms through a shirt or jammie to get dressed.
  • You really love being held and snuggled by mommy. There is definitely a connection there that you do not have with anyone else.
  • You do tummy time...but really do not like it too well.
  • Your eye seems to be improving, but wake up to goopies a few times a week.
  • Mommy is now on a gluten-free diet to see if it helps your cradle cap and dry skin. Grandma calls you her little crustacean.
  • You still fall asleep in the car almost every time and still cry if the car stops, but not as often as before.
  • When mommy reads to you, your favorite books are Harold and the Purple Crayon and Better Not Get Wet Jesse Bear.
  • You love watching TV. Especially TV with lots of action and colors and lights. You love Dancing with the Stars and yell at the TV if we pause it or fast forward commercials.
  • You only like to sit in your bouncy seat if the vibrate is on and you are watching TV.
  • You take your morning nap in your swing almost everyday and love to sleep in it at night too. Mommy reserves sleeping in the swing at night for nights when she desperately needs to sleep and you refuse to sleep in your crib after multiple attempts. She feels guilty every time she lets you sleep in your swing.
  • You discovered your hands and love to suck on them. This makes you a drooly mess. You are always soaked.
  • You love being held, but rarely make eye contact with the person holding you.
  • You love looking at yourself in the mirror.
  • The hair right at your neck is starting to get a little darker and the part on the back, where you lay has fallen out. You have a much better hairline than mommy does. Hopefully, you will not be a slave to bangs your whole life. Your eyelashes are long, but blonde.
Here are some 12 week pictures Daddy took of you having Tummy Time, like I said before...you are really not a fan.
