We pulled in to camp in the middle of the night. The people at the front desk left us a little package with our camp information on it at the door to the office and asked that we formally check in the next morning. Since we pulled in super late, all we did was level the trailer and plug in to electricity before calling it a night. We did not want to upset our camp neighbors too badly.
The next morning, I went to the office to check in and Justin stayed back at camp and set the rest of our camp up. While I was at the office, the sweet lady offered us a refund for the night we missed. It was non-refundable, but getting almost $75 back sure was nice! It was the most expensive campground we have ever stayed at.
When I returned to camp, we packed up some breakfast snacks and headed to the Jackson Lake Marina just a mile or so away from our camp. We rented a little tin fishing boat for 2 hours and went cruising all around Jackson Lake. It was amazing and we had our fist "ahhh, we're finally on vacation moment".
We were thankful we finished when we did because a storm was definitely coming in! We headed to the Jackson Lake Lodge to have lunch in the Mural Room. They are famous for their huckleberry margaritas, so of course, I ordered one! The views from our table were equally amazing.
While we were there at the Lodge, we took Lauren down to the stables for a short horse ride. She was not old enough to go on a trail ride, so this worked. She got to feed the horses an apple after her ride.
After her horse ride, we attended a Junior Ranger program and Lauren was one of the youngest there. They had all sorts of hides, antlers and other things for the kids to feel. She was a bit young for all of it, but she was earning her Junior Ranger badge, so she had to be there.
After the Junior Ranger program, we headed back to camp for a while. Lauren collected treasures from around our campsite. Then we took our bikes and rode down to the lake from our campsite. What we did not realize was just how big of a storm blew in and how cold that wind coming off the lake was going to be. Needless to say, we did not have our picnic.
That evening, we got in the truck and drove to the Signal Mountain Lodge to eat their famous nachos for dinner. We then hustled out of there to drive up to the top of Signal Mountain for sunset. We stopped at Oxbow Bend to get some pictures too.
