Lauren Visits Santa Claus

While Justin was away at Sea (again), Lauren and I headed up to Temecula to go visit Santa. Grandma called earlier in the day and confirmed that Santa would be there and the person on the phone said that he would be there til 9pm. The website for Bass Pro Shop said that weekdays are less busy and they do not use the Bass Pass to see Santa. Great! Last year it was crazy busy, so this year we will go on a calm weekday evening.

After her nap, we loaded up and drove to Temecula. We played for a little bit, had some dinner and then got in the car for the hour drive to Rancho Cucamonga to see Santa at Bass Pro Shops. It was decorated super cute again. But that is where the fun stops. Like literally, Mommy in tears, STOPS!

We go up to where you get in line to see Santa, only to find out that there are no more Bass Passes available to see Santa today! I was so devastated. We drove all the way from San Diego, in the rain, after calling to confirm, only to find out that, sorry, you cannot see Santa. The "grumpy elf" told us that we could wait til all the other people saw Santa and then if and only if there was still time available, we would be able to see Santa. At that point, I was on the verge of tears. I set up camp right at the tail end of the line and was just going to wait it out the remaining two and a half hours.

Then all of a sudden, this guy walks up with two passes and says "I am not going to be using these" and I start jumping up and down and waving over here, over here" (no joke) but the guy hands them to some hick and a half in sweatpants with missing teeth and two children that were way too old to be visiting Santa instead of me. The guy did not even know what the other guy handed him. He figured it out soon enough and got in line to see Santa. That is when my AWESOME sister steps in and goes and has a word with hick-man in the line. She explains to him that he only needs one pass and could he please share one with us. He does not...then a few moments later, he is motioning me to come get in line. Whew! Thank you Kendall.

Unfortunately, that meant that we had to stand in line behind him and act friendly while he practically shouted how disgusting Mexico is and how when he went there he gave all his money to the poor kids and how he shoots all these guns. Oh my goodness, it felt like the line was creeping along at that point! Anyways, we finally get our turn to visit with Santa. Just before we visit Santa, Lauren's diaper begins to smell not fresh. But we could not get out of the line at that point, so we decide to grin and bare it and hope for the best. This year Santa was tucked away in a cabin and the background was a bit disappointing. This is Lauren waiting for the elf to open the cabin door so she could go inside.

And this is what her visit with Santa looked like. The first few seconds she was on his lap, she stared at him, and the photographer captured that moment! Yay! (this is a picture of the original picture)

Then she quickly stared the "I want down, get me outta here" looks. Yes, she cried.

As soon as Kendall picked her up, she was fine, but she definitely did not like going back up to him to get her candy cane!

We took her to the restroom to change her diaper and her outfit. She hated every second of it...and her diaper...nothing in it. So we did not stink Santa out like we thought we did. Haha. The poor girl just wanted to be left alone. We ended up changing her clothes out near the entrance and about half way thorough, realized there was a freezing cold draft coming in the door. Mommy Fail right there! After her traumatic visit with Santa, and her miserable outfit change, she wanted her Bompie, so they headed over to play in the fishing boats...but first they stopped at the hats.

She "drove" this boat for a good 20 minutes!

Then they went over to check out the giant catfish tank for a while.

While they did that, I ran over and bought Lauren a present that they only have in the winter time. While I was gone, this next series of pictures happened. I was quite freaked out when I saw the pictures...

Boars! Ewww! Gross! My poor baby! Who's idea was this any ways? We headed out to the car to go home after this. Lauren got a quick diaper change in the car before we hit the road. Once we got going, I tried filling her water bottle in the dark and over filled it and spilled all over myself. Needless to say, we got the "Official 2011 Portrait with Santa" for the frame...but it was not easy by any means!
