{Canadian Cruise Vacation} Day Seven

Our last day in Vancouver proved to be bittersweet. We had such a wonderful time on vacation. We saw so much, experienced so much, but we were tired, we were homesick, and we were ready to be home. We knew we were leaving for Hawaii in less than three weeks and were still in a different country. I was in a hurry to just get to the airport and get home, but Justin wanted me to slow down and enjoy some coffee before we headed to the airport.

He was originally going to go by himself, but I decided we would join him. He put Lauren on his shoulders and off we went to find some coffee. The only problem was that Justin drinks "coffee", specifically ice blended coffees and Vancouver really does not make those, so we went from coffee shop to coffee shop trying to find Justin "his coffee". All the while I am flipping out about the time and needing to get to the airport. We finally find a Starbucks near the Yaletown Tube and have coffee and pastries and Lauren has two bananas and a Starbucks ice water on the patio. It really was a nice morning after all.

We head back to the condo, loaded our bags in the car, and "checked out". The directions were a little off, so we ended up over near the airport instead of at the car rental agency. I was able to recognize where we were from the ride yesterday and got us back on the right road to the drop off location. We filled up the car, and my, was it expensive for half a tank of gas. It was about $6 CAD a gallon.

We made our way to the airport, filled out our customs forms, got in line to check in with the airline and got our bags checked. I am so proud of myself. For the second time, I was less than half a pound off of my guessed weight. The airport baggage girl was five pounds off. We went through security and then through customs and still had about an hour to kill after we got the stroller tagged at the gate, so we went all the way back to the main terminal (we were in a little terminal in the middle of no where) to get some lunch. Two elevators and a moving sidewalk later, we got some Burger King and Cinnabon.

We let Lauren out of her stroller to run around before we boarded our plane, so she "surfed" on the moving sidewalk with Daddy.

By the time we got back to our gate, the plane was there and it was time to board for our 25ish minute flight to Seattle.

We went down to board the plane and noticed that Lauren's diaper needed changed, plus she was covered in spilled squeezie, so we quickly did a full change and then it was time to board our plane.

Lauren played with the tray table almost the entire way to Seattle.

Once we landed in Seattle, we found out that our flight was delayed almost an hour, so we called my parents to let them know...and also asked them to bring some diapers, because we only had 2 left and 5 hours til we were on the ground in San Diego. I freaked out and begged the man at our gate to go get our suitcase and bring us back the spare (swim) diapers in our bag. He tried, but had no luck finding them. The airport only sold size 3s and we needed a 5 or a 6. I was very stressed out.

Right before we boarded, we changed her diaper and she had a complete meltdown. She had a runny nose, so we gave her some Tylenol to help her sleep better on the plane and then it was time to board. The seat next to us was sold, but the passenger never showed up, so we had the whole row to our self. Alaska Airlines is so much nicer than Southwest. More legroom, better seats, it was just wonderful. Shortly after take off, we settled in and Lauren fell asleep and I closed my eyes to rest too.

Lauren slept for about two thirds of the flight and it was wonderful. I handed her over to Justin for the last bit because I was so stiff from holding her. When we landed, we were greeted by Bompie, Grandma and Auntie and they were so excited to see us. Screaming and yelling and hugging and kissing. You would think we were gone a month!

We got our bags (that the airline said they could not find in Seattle) and loaded them in the truck and headed back to our house. It was so nice to be home!

Lauren wasted no time getting back to her toys and playing with Bompie. After watching a few videos from our trip it was time for baths and bedtime.
