This was not going to become a tradition, but it is sort of working out that way...where Bompie outdoes Santa every year by winning the "Best Present of Christmas Award". Last year on Christmas Eve he gave Lauren those creepy singing Mickey and Minnie dolls. And this year on Christmas Eve, he outdid himself. A few days prior, we were at the store and he and Lauren snuck off to the toy department (as usual) and Lauren was falling in love with every animated stuffed dog on the shelf. He wanted to get her one but I told him that there were better dogs out there. So this morning, Christmas Eve morning, Justin, my Dad and I headed out to Target so my Dad could buy Lauren his special present that was just from him. As if the giant fort was not enough (along with quite a few other things), he had to get her an animated dog too. The whole drive home from the store this thing barked in the bag and I just knew it was a HUGE mistake letting him buy this dog, but the look on Lauren's face was just priceless.

This is where the box starts barking...

and the urgency to "emmit" open it begins.

Then we swich to very confused, becuase the barking stops.

Bompie shakes the box. The box starts barking again! Urgent! Open that box, Bompie!

Hurry! Hurry! Let me help you!

It took her quite a while to grasp the concept of "remote control dog". She wanted it to chase her, follow her, go in front of her, run to her, etc. and not walk in front of her. She also wanted to pull it like a pull toy. The box did say ages four and up. She spent a lot of time just picking the dog up and carrying it.
I definitely think Bompie outdid himself this year. Just based on the sheer joy of Lauren's face. She just adores her newest "gawg".
