Lauren's First Trip to SeaWorld

Today was Lauren's first trip to Sea World San Diego! We wanted to take her to the Spooktackular that Sea World does weekends in October. So we headed there this afternoon. It was so wonderful knowing that we could just take our time and make it leisurely and enjoyable! We planned on arriving at around 2pm. That was after we all enjoyed a nice long nap, and then packed up and drove down there. It was seriously so great to not be rushing and worrying about getting there right when it opened so we could get our money's worth. After finding a parking spot, the first thing we went to was the Sesame Street Halloween Show. It had already started when we got there, so Justin just stuck Lauren on his shoulders so she could see. She watched, but she was not super excited about it, so we left and headed over the the Clyde and Seamore Sea Lion Show.

Lauren helped us find our way...

...and soon, we were at the show...she was more excited about the Sea Gull that kept landing on a post next to my head!!! Blahhhh! I cannot stand birds!

Lauren liked the music in the show, but since we were so far back, I do not think she realized that there was a show going on down there. Our next stop was the Penguin Encounter. Lauren really liked it and was pointing and telling us all about it.

After we exited the the Encounter, we found some outside penguins that Lauren thought were equally cool.

We loaded her up in her cheap (you have to leave the stroller outside of all the shows and experiences and we did not want her fancy one getting stolen) stroller and went out in search of some food. We ended up sharing a plate of chicken fingers, fries and a funnel cake!

Our next stop was the Sky Ride. We went over the the Spooktackular area and looked at some of the characters dressed in costume and wandered around while Justin waited in line. Finally, he got to the front of the line so we headed over to join him. Lauren LOVED the chain that formed the line! She cried when I picked her up to go board the Sky Ride!

About to board. I love this picture!

After the Sky Ride, we wandered around a bit. We ran in to Mr. Rentar (our high school athletic trainer and his family. You may remember me blogging about a fundraiser carnival we attended last year for his daughter Faith, here. After that, we headed over the the Shamu Viewing area. I had no clue how big Killer Whales were!

Lauren had a snack and watched Shamu circle in his tank.

After that, we walked around some more. We thought about going home because it was getting cold, we thought about getting another snack...but we decided to just stay and go to the Shamu Rocks Show at 7pm.

Here we are at the Shamu Rocks Show. It is only on weekends and once per night. It was AWESOME! Lauren LOVED it! She danced the entire time. The show had great music and lights and of course, Shamu was amazing too. Her VERY favorite part were the LED TV screens. Haha!

After the show, we headed out of the park and went to Corner Bakery for dinner. It was a great afternoon and we cannot wait to go back soon. There is so much we did not get to see.
